The invention discloses a method for producing alumina and aluminium nitride composite powder. The alumina and aluminium nitride composite powder is prepared by insulating mixed powder of alumina and powdered carbon in flowing nitrogen and then oxidizing the mixed powder. The method has the advantages that a process is simple, and strict control of reaction condition is not required. Imported expensive aluminium nitride powder is not required, and the method can produce the alumina and aluminium nitride composite powder having good reaction activity. In addition, any powder having aluminium nitride content being 0-100% is prepared by controlling carbonization and nitridation reaction conditions.
