The self-water-absorbing composite geogrid comprises a plurality of transverse ribs arranged at equal intervals and a plurality of longitudinal ribs arranged at equal intervals, wherein the transverse ribs and the longitudinal ribs are perpendicularly intersected and wovento form the self-water-absorbing composite geogrid; and a water-absorbing material is embedded into the transverse ribs and the longitudinal ribs. The self-water-absorbing composite geogrid has the following beneficial effects that 1), water absorbing is achieved, the rib material contains the water absorbing material, water accumulated at a low water level in a reinforcement layer can be suckedout, the influence of accumulated water on the stability of the soil body is reduced, and the drainage consolidation time of the lower soil body is shortened; 2), water permeability is achieved, by adding the water-absorbing material to the ribs, the geogrid is made to form a drainage net, and it is not necessary to combine earthwork cloth for drainage of a treatment layer; and 3), water drainageis achieved, the problem that the polymer water-absorbing material has a water loss characteristic after air-drying is eliminated, the self-water-absorbing geogrid can be partially reversely arrangedon the surface of a dam in a wrapping manner when in use and used for air-drying and draining; and pre-compression-free drainage of the water at the bottom of the dam is achieved through the self-water-absorbing geogrid.
