The invention discloses an abrupt slope pier rockfall prevention structure and a construction method, and aims to solve a problem of dangerous rock rockfall prevention of abrupt slope piers, prevent dangerous rock rockfall in all adverse directions from influencing the piers and achieve rapid construction. The rockfall prevention structure comprises resistance piles which are arranged on a steep slope foundation around a pier at intervals, anchor cable structures, a passive protective net and an elastic buffer body, wherein the pile top elevation is matched with the rockfall height and the pier height, outer ends of the anchor cable structures are arranged at the tops and the bottoms of the resistance piles on the side adjacent to the mountain, inner ends are anchored on the slope foundation, the passive protective net is fixed at the periphery of the resistance piles and forms a wrapping protective ring for the piers, and the elastic buffer body is arranged on inner sides of the resistance piles on the side adjacent to the mountain.
