The invention relates to a door and window closer which includes a mounting seat, a pull rod, a sliding mechanism, a limiting mechanism and a driving mechanism. The pull rod is installed on the mounting seat in a hinged mode and the edge of the hinged end is of a gear structure; the sliding mechanism is movably connected to the mounting seat, and includes the limiting mechanism and a toothrow arranged in the direction of movement; the sliding mechanism changes from a first movement state to a second movement state under the drive of the driving mechanism; when in the first movement state, thelimiting mechanism meshes with the hinged end of the pull rod; when in the second movement state, the toothrow meshes with the hinged end of the pull rod to rotate the pull rod; and the driving mechanism locks the sliding mechanism when the temperature is within a specific ambient temperature, and drives the sliding mechanism to change from the first movement state to the second movement state when the temperature is above the specific ambient temperature. According to the door and window closer, the gear structure is arranged at a junction, and meanwhile, the effects that damping is suppliedat ordinary times and automatic closing is carried out in emergencies are realized by using the gear structure, so that the size of the door and window closer is greatly reduced.
