The invention discloses a method for preparing a chelating agent in the construction industry. The method comprises the following steps: adding 50-60 parts by weight of water into a first reaction kettle, then carrying out stirring by using a first stirrer, heating inlet water by utilizing a heater at the same time, after the inlet water is heated, adding 1-15 parts by weight of diphenyl thioureaunder the condition that the water in the first reaction kettle is in a stirring state, carrying out sufficient and uniform stirring, slowly adding 5-15 parts by weight of hydroxyethanediphosphonic acid sodium salt, carrying out a sufficient reaction, and after completion of the reaction, carrying out standing so as to obtain an intermediate product A. The method provided by the invention has thefollowing beneficial effects: the method is applicable to manufacturing building plates by utilizing solid wastes; different kinds of metal chelating agents in plate raw materials can be combined andcompounded to obtain a product with an highly-efficient heavy metal removal rate effect; the method is low in treatment cost, friendly to the environment, safe and non-toxic; a product is applicable to large-area use in a plurality of fields; the activation state of the product is converted into a stable state through the chelating effect of heavy metal; and the long-term stability of a stabilizedproduct is improved.
