The invention relates to a sweeper and a water tank system thereof. The water tank system comprises a water pump, a water storage tank, a lower water tank, a controller and a water level detection device, wherein the lower water tank is arranged at the bottom of the water storage tank and is communicated with the bottom of the water storage tank; a water intake is formed in the bottom of the lowerwater tank; the water intake is connected with a water inlet of the water pump; the volume of the lower water tank is far smaller than that of the water storage tank; the water pump is installed on aframe; the installation height of the water pump is lower than that of the water intake; the detection device is used for detecting water volume information in the water storage tank and feeding backthe water volume information; and the water pump is started and stopped according to the water volume information. According to the water tank system, by arranging the lower water tank, the water utilization rate can be increased on the premise that cavitation of the water pump is avoided, and whole vehicle energy consumption is reduced.
