The invention relates to the technical field of wall insulation, and discloses a construction method of an anti-cracking external wall thermal insulation coating. The construction method comprises a wall body, the front surface of the wall body is painted with a putty layer, the front surface of the putty layer is painted with a bonding layer, and the front surface of the bonding layer is uniformly provided with extruded polystyrene boards which are spliced in a staggered joint manner; and anchoring nails are arranged at the four corners of the inner sides of the extruded polystyrene boards ina penetrating mode, the front surfaces of the extruded polystyrene boards are coated with a first heat preservation adhesive cement layer, and a second heat preservation adhesive cement layer is arranged on the front side of a glass fiber gridding cloth. According to the construction method, the extruded polystyrene boards are fixed through the bonding layer and the anchoring nails, and the firstheat preservation adhesive cement layer, the glass fiber gridding cloth and the second heat preservation adhesive cement layer are sequentially arranged on the outer surfaces of the extruded polystyrene boards, so that thermal insulation layers are firmly bonded together, and the thermal insulation layers has high heat resistance coefficient, water permeability, water vapor wet flow density and impact strength, and has relatively low water absorption amount, so that the thermal insulation layers do not crack in the long-time use process.
