The invention provides a tailgate lifting device. The tailgate lifting device is configured to drive an automobile tailgate to pivot relative to an automobile body about a pivot, the tailgate liftingdevice comprises a first pulley, a second pulley, a driving cable, a motor and a controller; the first pulley is mounted to the automobile body and rotatable about a first axis fixed relative to the automobile body; the second pulley is mounted to the tailgate and rotatable about a second axis fixed relative to the tailgate; the driving cable bypasses the first pulley and the second pulley, and the first end of the driving cable is fixed to the automobile body; the second end of the driving cable is connected to an output shaft of the motor, so that a first torque around the pivot generated onthe tailgate by pulling the driving cable when the motor is started is opposite to a second torque around the pivot generated by gravity of the tailgate; and the controller is used for controlling operation of the motor.
