The novel lightning arrester comprises a first lightning rod and a discharge earth screen device connected with the first lightning rod, and further comprises: a mounting base, wherein a first lightning rod is installed on the mounting base, a fixing device arranged on the mounting base and used for fixedly mountingthe mounting base on a communication iron tower, and a lightning rod protection device which comprises a lightning rod anti-shaking device arranged on the mounting base and connected with the first lightning rod. The lightning rod protection device is arranged to protect the lightning rod, for example, the lightning rod anti-shaking device is arranged to prevent the first lightning rod from shaking, the first lightning rod is prevented from shaking to influence the protection effect of the lightning rod, and the reliability of an existing lightning arrester for the communication tower is improved.
