The invention discloses a roof greening structure and a construction method thereof, and relates to the technical field of roof greening. The problem that later-conservation of plants is complicated because water drainage of existing roof soil is difficult is solved. The roof greening structure is characterized by comprising a leveling layer, a waterproof layer, a plurality of planting bases, planting rings which are fixed to the tops of the planting bases, supporting nets which are arranged on the tops pf the planting bases, planting soil arranged in the planting rings and water storage ringswhich are arranged on the outer sides of the planting bases in a sleeving manner. The construction method comprises the steps: a, paving the leveling layer; b, paving the waterproof layer; c, pouringthe planting bases; d, paving the planting rings, the water storage rings and limiting rings; e, paving planting soil; f, mounting supporting plates and bearing plates; and g, mounting a climbing frame. When soil is watered too much, the water in the soil flows through the supporting nets and then deeply goes into water guiding tanks, and then the water flows into water storage cavities through the water guiding tanks, so that the problem of complicated conservation of green plants caused by difficult water drainage of the roof greening structure is solved.
