The invention belongs to the technical field of silicon carbide ceramic materials, and discloses a lost foam coating for casting molding of silicon carbide ceramic. The lost foam coating comprises thefollowing raw material components in parts by mass: powder components: 10 to 20 parts of montmorillonite powder, 15 to 35 parts of gypsum powder, 20 to 35 parts of silicon carbide powder, 1 to 5 parts of talcum powder, 2 to 8 parts of silicon micropowder, 2 to 6 parts of silicon nitride powder and 0.25 to 1 part of boron nitride powder; and binding agent components: 10 to 30 parts of organic glue, 1 to 2 parts of yellow dextrin and 0.1 to 0.5 part of sodium silicate. According to the invention, a layer of a functional coating capable of tightly coating a lost foam (a foam inner core) can be formed; the coating has good hydrophilicity and water absorbability, can absorb moisture in a silicon carbide ceramic castable, effectively reduces generation of pores, shrinkage cavities, bubbles andlooseness on the inner surface of a formed blank; the functional coating also can exert the effect of isolation; and the lost foam (the foam inner core) is effectively prevented from being bonded withthe formed blank.
