The invention relates to the technical field of refractory materials, in particular to an amorphous high-alumina refractory material and a preparation method thereof. The material comprises 45-85% offused corundum-based aluminum-magnesium spinel, 10-30% of graphite, and 5-20% of quartz, 5-15% of zirconium oxide, wherein the fused corundum-based aluminum-magnesium spinel comprises more than 85% byweight of alumina and less than 10% by weight of magnesium oxide. The preparation method comprises the following steps: adding graphite, quartz and zirconium oxide into a heat treatment furnace, mixing, heating until the quartz begins to melt, keeping the temperature for 5-30 minutes, and cooling; putting the raw material subjected to heat treatment into a ball mill for ball milling to obtain a mixed raw material with the particle size of 0.5-5mm; and stirring the fused corundum-based aluminum-magnesium spinel in a stirrer for 5-10 minutes, adding the ball-milled raw materials into the stirrer, and mixing for 5-30 minutes. Zirconium oxide and graphite are compounded through quartz, so that the furnace lining has extremely high corrosion resistance, meanwhile, the graphite with high thermal conductivity transfers heat of zirconium oxide and quartz out, thermal expansion of zirconium oxide is reduced, and cracking and damage of the furnace lining are prevented.
