The invention discloses an expanding excavation structure for a shield tunnel foundation and a construction method thereof. The expanding excavation structure comprises an arch frame at a tunnel expanding excavation contour line, a supporting structure connected into a duct piece in the arch frame and a supporting piece connected between the arch frame and the supporting structure. The supportingstructure comprises a frame shaped like a square mesh located at the center of the cross section of the tunnel excavation contour, an extension rod connected to the peripheral intersection point of the frame shaped like the square mesh, a reinforcing piece and an additional piece. According to the expanding excavation structure, expanding excavation construction is conducted on the basis of shieldconstruction, the labor hour is saved, installation of the supporting structure in the early stage is facilitated, and the construction quality during expanding excavation is guaranteed; by arrangingthe supporting structure, a supporting foundation is provided during expanding excavation, and the frame shaped like the square mesh on the supporting structure can enable the whole component to be stressed evenly and adapt to design sections of different forms; by arranging the supporting piece, synchronous supporting is conducted while partition expanding excavation is conducted; and by means of partition excavation and the excavation mode from top to bottom, the orderliness of expanding excavation is guaranteed, and the expanding excavation quality is guaranteed.
