The invention discloses a method for preparing mineral wool fibers from leaching residues of hydrometallurgy laterite-nickel ore and application of the mineral wool fibers. According to the method, leaching residues of the hydrometallurgy laterite-nickel ore are adopted as a raw material, a conditioning agent is added into the raw material, normal-temperature solid-state mixing and conditioning are performed to enable the acidity coefficient to be greater than or equal to 1.2, and then mixed material melting, discharging and filamentation are performed to obtain the mineral wool fibers; or, the leaching residues of the hydrometallurgy laterite-nickel ore are used as raw materials, and the raw materials are fused, discharged and filamented to obtain the mineral wool fibers. The method can reduce solid waste and environmental pollution, is used for preparing rock wool, improves the heat insulation performance of buildings, improves the energy utilization rate and reduces energy consumption.
