The invention discloses a water supply system and method for a transformer spraying cooling system. The water supply system comprises a refrigeration water tank with a heat preservation and insulationlayer mounted, a refrigeration part for taking electricity for refrigerating in a low peak period of the power utilization is arranged in the refrigeration water tank, a water tank inlet valve and awater tank outlet valve are mounted on the refrigeration water tank, the water tank inlet valve is connected with a water receiving disc for recovering water used by the spraying cooling system, and spraying water in the refrigeration water tank is cooled in the low valley period of the power utilization, so that the low-temperature spraying water is supplied when the temperature of a transformeris over-high in the low peak period of the power utilization so as to achieve the purpose of rapid cooling of the transformer when the temperature of the transformer is over-high.
