The invention relates to the field of spraying equipment, and discloses an automatic coating device for building decoration engineering. The automatic coating device comprises a paint box, an air compressor, a heater, a heat-resistant tank, a spray gun, a paint processing assembly and an infrared range finder. A paint pipe and an air pipe are arranged in the spray gun, the heat-resistant tank is arranged in a hollow cavity of the heater, the lower end of an air heating cavity communicates with the air compressor, and the upper end of the air heating cavity communicates with the air pipe. A discharge port of the paint box communicates with a feeding port of the heat-resistant tank through a conveying pipe, and a first liquid pump is arranged on the conveying pipe; and a discharging port ofthe heat-resistant tank communicates with the paint pipe through a conveying pipe, and a second liquid pump and an electromagnetic valve are arranged on the conveying pipe. The invention further discloses a using method of the automatic coating device. The method comprises the steps of debugging preparation, paint viscosity detection and spraying. The automatic coating device is simple in structure, low in production cost, convenient to control, high in automation degree, wide in application range and excellent in spraying effect.
