The invention provides a method and equipment for producing building gypsum powder from industrial byproduct gypsum, which can increase the content of hemihydrate gypsum in a final product of buildinggypsum powder to be close to a theoretical limit value so as to greatly improve the quality of the building gypsum powder, and relates to the technical field of building gypsum powder production. Theinvention discloses a method for producing building gypsum powder by using byproduct gypsum. The method comprises the following steps: dehydrating and frying dehumidified and dried industrial byproduct gypsum powder for multiple times by using a plurality of powder frying devices of which the inner cavities are sequentially communicated through discharge holes of the powder frying devices and feed holes of the powder frying devices; wherein the feed ports of the powder frying devices are all arranged above powder frying heat exchange tubes of the powder frying devices, and the discharge portsof the powder frying devices are all arranged below the powder frying heat exchange tubes of the powder frying devices. The method can promote large-scale utilization of industrial by-product gypsum.
