The invention discloses a sensor system for detecting obstacles of a platform door and a detection method of the sensor system. The sensor system comprises a plurality of sensor groups which are uniformly mounted on the side, close to train travelling, of the platform door; each sensor group comprises two photoelectric sensors; the photoelectric sensors are arranged in the direction perpendicularto the platform door, and the detection distance in the direction perpendicular to the platform door is equal to the vertical distance between the platform door and a train; the sensor groups are connected with an embedded chip and are used for processing input signals of the photoelectric sensors; and when any sensor detects an obstacle, the sensor groups output a high level. The triggering sequence of the photoelectric sensor groups in each time period from the entering period to the exiting period of the train is detected, whether the obstacle exists between a train door and the platform door or not is correctly judged when the triggering sequence deviates from the normal triggering sequence, and a control instruction is sent by the embedded chip to realize obstacle detection and traindoor opening and closing state monitoring.
