The invention discloses a support type installation method of a steel-pylon. A vertical lifting support is erected on one side of a lower tower column of the steel-pylon; a first section at the top end of the segmented steel-pylon is transferred into the vertical lifting support in place; after the first section is lifted in the vertical lifting support, a second section below the first section isput in place; after the first section and the second section are subjected to butt welding to form a butted section, the butted section is lifted; rest sections are circularly installed according tothe installation procedure of the second section; the bottom ends of the butted sections are transversely translated to the top end of the lower tower column; and the butted sections and the lower tower column are subjected to falling frame connection, so installation of the steel-pylon is completed. The vertical lifting support is used for installing the inclined steel-pylon, so the butt joint precision of the steel-pylon is controlled, the butt joint adjustability of the steel-pylon is improved, operation difficulty and complexity in construction process are reduced, and construction safetyis also improved.
