The invention provides a method for connecting a 50kg/m steel rail and an 80R steel rail. The method comprises the following steps that: a special-shaped joint is arranged; the relative positions of the 50kg/m steel rail and the 80R steel rail are adjusted, so that the top surface of the 50kg/m steel rail is flush with the top surface of the 80R steel rail, and the end surface, facing a working edge, of the rail head of the 50kg/m steel rail is flush with the end surface, facing the working edge, of the rail head of the 80R steel rail; and the 50kg/m steel rail is fixedly connected with the 80R steel rail through the special-shaped joint. The invention provides the method for connecting the 50kg/m steel rail and the 80R steel rail; the special-shaped joint is adopted, so that the connection of the 50kg/m steel rail and the 80R steel rail is achieved; and the relative positions of a first connecting section, a transition section and a second connecting section are reasonably arranged, so that the stability and safety during the passage of a train passes can be guaranteed.
