The invention provides a detection device for highway bridge maintenance and a using method thereof. The detection device for highway bridge maintenance comprises a main body box and a remote controlpanel; an electric appliance bin is arranged in the center of the interior of the main body box; placing bins are symmetrically arranged on the two sides and the two ends of the electric appliance bin; strip-shaped sealing plugs are arranged at the tops of the placing bins; a driving motor is arranged at the inner top of the electric appliance bin, and the output end of the driving motor extends to the position over the main body box and is provided with a fan blade assembly; and a storage battery is arranged in the middle of the interior of the electric appliance bin. According to the invention, the main body box, a trapezoidal box door, a hinge shaft, the placing bins, an electric lifting rod and the strip-shaped sealing plugs are matched for use; the detection assembly is completely retracted into the main body box, and the fan blades can be stored in the placing bins, so that the space occupied area of the highway bridge detection device is reduced, related assemblies in the detection assembly can be further protected, and damage caused by collision is avoided.
