The invention relates to the technical field of steel structure connection nodes, and particularly discloses a rigid connection node of box type steel beams and a construction method thereof. The rigid connection node of the box type steel beam is composed of a first box type steel beam, a second box type steel beam, a first high-strength bolt plate and a first connecting plate. A first upper flange and a first lower flange of the first box type steel beam are welded to a second upper flange and a second lower flange of the second box type steel beam correspondingly, and the first high-strength bolt plate and the first connecting plate are connected with web plates of the first box type steel beam and web plates of the second box type steel beam. The rigid connection node enables bolted connection of the web plates of the box type steel beams to be achieved; compared with full welding, the on-site welding amount is reduced, and the implementation difficulty is lowered; the bolted connection and welding combined manner avoids concentration of flange weld joints and web weld joints, reduces thermal deformation, weakens the influence of welding residual stress, and therefore the quality of the rigid connection node of the box type steel beams is improved.
