The invention relates to a road and bridge safety crash barrier based on an inertia principle. When a first protection frame is impacted by an external force to move towards a second protection frame;under an effect of inertia, an inertia vehicle is kept still relative to the ground; and when the second protection frame moves towards a right side, a pushing piece pushes a blocking piece into a groove through a first through hole equivalently, a first supporting plate is released, and under pushing of a first elastic piece, the first supporting plate pushes the protection device to extend outof the opening in the upper portion of the first protection frame and expand to form a buffer wall. Meanwhile, a first linkage plate is pushed by the first protection frame and enters a second containing cavity through a second through hole. And then a first shifting piece is pushed to enable a first rotating wheel to rotate anticlockwise, and a first mounting rod is driven by the first rotating wheel to rotate anticlockwise. The first mounting rod enables the supporting block to be separated from the bottom of the first blocking frame by pulling a steel cable so that the first blocking frameinclines towards the second protection frame and supports the side part of the second protection frame.
