The invention relates to a highway widening roadbed construction method which comprises the following steps: step 1, measuring and setting out a to-be-widened position of an original roadbed, markingthe to-be-widened position, and digging slope surfaces step by step along the slope angle of the original roadbed; step 2, driving wood piles into the bottom-layer platform; step 3, laying geogrids onthe bottom layer platform; step 4, laying gravelly soil on the geogrids in a layered manner until the gravelly soil is flush with the surface of the previous stage of platform, and when gravel soil is laid in a layered mode, drilling a mounting groove in the side, close to the gravel soil layer, of the original roadbed, and arranging a connecting device in the mounting groove; step 5, driving thewood piles into the platform in the step 4 according to the step 2; step 6, laying geogrids laid on the platform in the step 4; 7, repeating the step 4 to step 6; and step 8, paving broken stone chips on the compacted surface, and then compacting the stone chips until the broken stone chips are flush with the surface of the original roadbed.
