The purpose of the present invention is to provide a work machine operation support system, a work machine operation support method, a maintenance assistance method for an operation support system, and a construction machine, whereby it is possible to reduce the burden on an operator, in view of the problem of performing manipulation so as not to contact obstacles. The operation support system (1)is provided with an acquisition unit (10) and an operation control unit (20). The acquisition unit (10) acquires image information relating to the movement range of a moving unit (40) of a work machine (100). The operation control unit (20) causes the movement unit (40) to perform an operation of avoiding contact with an obstacle on the basis of the image information acquired by the acquisition unit (10).
