The invention discloses a water gate water pump capable of automatically detecting the sand content in water. The water gate water pump comprises a shell, wherein a transmission space is arranged on the right side of the shell; a hydraulic oil cavity is formed in the upper side of the transmission space; hydraulic oil is arranged in the hydraulic oil cavity; a meshing space is arranged on the leftside of the transmission space; a vacuum pump water pumping space is arranged on the left side of the meshing space; a water inlet is formed in the rear side of the vacuum pump water pumping space; and water flow enters the vacuum pump water pumping space through the water inlet. The water gate water pump is a vacuum pump device which is used for a water conservancy gate and can detect the sand content in water and provide protection, the water gate water pump can be started regularly in the using process to detect the sand content in water, a sand filter screen is used according to the situation, part of sand is blocked, gear abrasion in a vacuum pump is prevented, and accordingly the service life of the water pump is prolonged.
