The invention provides a batten and a preparation method thereof, and relates to the technical field of building construction. The batten comprises a batten body and a reinforcing assembly, and the reinforcing assembly comprises a first reinforcing plate and a second reinforcing plate which are arranged in the length direction of the batten body; a first limiting flange is arranged at the bottom of the first reinforcing plate in the length direction; a second limiting flange is arranged at the bottom of the second reinforcing plate in the length direction; and a first clamping groove matched with the first limiting flange and a second clamping groove matched with the second limiting flange are formed in the side wall of the batten body. The batten is high in strength and not prone to breakage, and the supporting strength of a concrete formwork is improved advantageously. In addition, the invention further provides a preparation method of the batten. The preparation method comprises thesteps that wood is processed into the cuboid batten body, and a metal material is machined into the first reinforcing plate and the second reinforcing plate which are consistent with the batten bodyin length; and the first reinforcing plate and the second reinforcing plate are installed on the side wall of the batten body. By adopting the method, the batten is manufactured conveniently.
