The invention discloses a temporary supporting device and a support replacement method, and the method comprises the following steps that the temporary supporting device is installed at a position close to the side surface of a support, and the temporary supporting device is adjusted in place; a load is gradually applied to the temporary support device until the support is unloaded; the support tobe replaced is taken out, and a new support is installed; the temporary supporting device is unloaded and adjusted, so that the support bears the load; the temporary supporting device is dismounted,and installation is completed. The temporary supporting device comprises a height adjusting system and a power driving device, the height adjusting system comprises an upper plate, a lower plate and an adjusting block, an open groove is formed in the bottom face of the upper plate and is of a V-shaped structure, an adjusting cavity is formed between the open groove and the lower plate, and the adjusting block is located in the adjusting cavity and can slide in the adjusting cavity to enable the upper plate to rise or fall. Jacking of the support with large vertical bearing capacity can be achieved through small horizontal or lateral loads, the jacking force and/or stroke can be accurately controlled, the relative jacking difference of all supporting points can be accurately controlled to be within an allowable range, and damage to the structure is reduced to the maximum extent.
