The invention discloses a functional interlayer composite ceramic material and a preparation method thereof.The preparation method comprises the steps that preparing a first mixed slurry and a secondmixed slurry containing a functional material, and subjecting the first mixed slurry sequentially to tape casting treatment and drying treatment to obtain a non-functional layer element membrane; sequentially carrying out tape casting treatment and drying treatment on the second mixed slurry to obtain a functional layer element membrane, and respectively stacking non-functional layer element membranes on the top surface and the bottom surface of the functional layer element membrane to obtain a functional interlayer membrane, and sequentially carrying out laminating treatment, glue dischargingtreatment and hot isostatic pressing sintering treatment on the functional interlayer membrane to obtain the functional interlayer composite ceramic material. The functional layer element membrane and the non-functional layer element membrane can be independently prepared, cross contamination caused by preparation of various materials in equipment is effectively avoided, the performance of the ceramic material can be flexibly regulated and controlled, and complementation of the performance of different ceramic materials is achieved.
