The invention discloses a drainage ditch excavating device for a railway bridge and an operation method thereof. The drainage ditch excavating device comprises a vehicle body, wherein a bracket is fixedly mounted at one end of the vehicle body; the bottom of the bracket is fixedly connected with one end of a long hydraulic rod; the other end of the long hydraulic rod is fixedly connected with a cross beam; mounting plates are arranged on the outer walls of the two sides of the cross beam; a moving mechanism is mounted between the mounting plates and the cross beam; a fixed frame is fixedly mounted on the outer sides of the mounting plates; one end of an extension arm is mounted in an inner cavity of the fixed frame; and an excavating wheel is mounted at the other end of the extension arm.The vehicle body is driven to the railway bridge, the cross beam is placed under the bridge by the long hydraulic rod, and the vehicle body moves to the middle part of the bridge surface, so that thecross beam extends into the bottom of the bridge; the moving mechanism drives the mounting plates to horizontally move, so that the extension arm moves to an excavating point and drives the excavatingwheel to vertically extend, and therefore, a drainage ditch is conveniently excavated comprehensively; and the extension arm extends, so that the transmission ratio is low, and therefore, the position of the excavating wheel is controlled more precisely.
