The invention discloses ceramic composite powder for thermal spraying and a preparation method of the ceramic composite powder. The ceramic composite powder comprises a core region and a shell layer,wherein the core region is coated with the shell layer; materials forming the core region are composed of modified CBN and modified TiO2; and the shell layer is made of YAG. The preparation method comprises the following steps: uniformly mixing an aluminum salt solution and a yttrium salt solution to obtain an aluminum-yttrium composite solution; dissolving the modified CBN powder and the modifiedTiO2 powder in deionized water, conducting ultrasonic uniform dispersing, and adjusting a pH value to obtain modified CBN/modified CBN mixed slurry; slowly and dropwise adding the aluminum-yttrium composite solution into the mixed slurry, and carrying out stirring, standing and filtering successively to obtain a composite precipitate; and washing, drying and calcining the composite precipitate toobtain the YAG/modified CBN/modified TiO2 ceramic composite powder. The ceramic composite powder has excellent dispersity, wear resistance and oxidation resistance, and is used in a thermal sprayingprocess.
