The invention provides a storm protection system. Further, at least one slat extends between the pair of side rails, and the slat is adapted to be connected to the offset projections within the pair of side rails. In most embodiments, a plurality of slats are provided for rolling up when not in use. A clip is coupled to a distal end of each slat; and the slats are adapted to be directly connected to the offset elongate projections within the side rail cavity.
