The invention relates to the technical field of environmental ecological engineering, in particular to a bank protection structure. The bank protection structure comprises an ecological wave absorbingwall and a coastal zone ecological area which are arranged on the bank side of a water area. The ecological wave absorbing wall comprises a vertical retaining wall body for separating the coastal zone ecological area from the water area and a biological channel which is formed in the vertical retaining wall body and used for communicating the water area with the coastal zone ecological area, andthe coastal zone ecological area is used for planting plants. The invention further relates to an ecological transformation method of the vertical retaining wall bank. The ecological transformation method comprises the steps that the bank area is transformed into a gentle slope type embankment structure through earth excavation, and the coastal zone ecological area used for planting the plants isformed; and the biological channel for communicating the water area with the coastal zone ecological area is formed in the vertical retaining wall body to form the ecological wave absorbing wall. Shiptraveling waves and stormy waves can be eliminated, and the stability of the coastal zone animal inhabitation and plant growth environment is maintained.
