The invention relates to zirconia ceramic as well as a preparation method and application thereof. The zirconia ceramic comprises a zirconia matrix, a stabilizer and a flexibilizer, wherein the stabilizer is one or more of yttrium oxide, erbium oxide, neodymium oxide and samarium oxide, and the flexibilizer is niobium oxide and/or tantalum oxide; based on the total molar weight of the zirconia ceramic, the content of the stabilizer is 2-4 mol%, the content of the flexibilizer is 0.45-1.4 mol%, and the molar percentage content difference between the stabilizer and the flexibilizer is 1.5-2.6 mol%. By controlling the contents of the stabilizer and the flexibilizer, the stabilizer and the flexibilizer are matched with each other, so that the zirconia ceramic is good in toughness, good in impact resistance and good in thermal aging resistance.
