The invention relates to the technical field of lifting columns, and discloses a novel lifting column which is characterized in that a driven chain wheel is rotatably connected to the interior of a lower base, an upper base is fixedly mounted at the top end of a top plate, a transmission rod is rotatably connected to the interior of the upper base, and a driving chain wheel is fixedly connected to the position, corresponding to the upper base, outside the transmission rod in a sleeving mode; the two ends of the transmission rod are each fixedly connected with a universal joint, a first chain is jointly connected between the driving chain wheel and the driven chain wheel in a sleeved mode, when the lifting device is used, every two adjacent lifting columns are connected in series through the corresponding universal joint and connected with the corresponding universal joint in series through an external motor, and when the motor works, all the universal joints rotate synchronously; the lifting columns connected with every two universal joints can stretch out or retract synchronously, the manufacturing cost of the lifting columns can be greatly reduced, and therefore the market competitiveness of the lifting columns of the structure is improved.
