The invention relates to the field of civil engineering bridge hanging basket construction, in particular to a hanging basket elevation adjusting device and method. The device comprises a height adjusting assembly which is used for being placed on a cross beam of a hanging basket and is formed by pressing an upper wedge-shaped block and a lower wedge-shaped block together, and receding grooves which are vertically formed in the upper wedge-shaped block and the lower wedge-shaped block and are used for allowing steel hanging belts to penetrate; a limiting device used for limiting the left-right movement space of the height adjusting assembly is fixed to a cross beam of the hanging basket, and penetrating and pulling mechanisms are arranged on the front side and the rear side of the limiting device; and the gap between the upper wedge block and the inner wall of the limiting device is filled with an auxiliary steel plate. According to the device, the displacement of the wedge-shaped block and the settlement of the template are effectively avoided, and the working efficiency and the hanging basket elevation adjustment precision are improved.
