The invention discloses a multipurpose thermal barrier coating and a preparation method thereof. The multipurpose thermal barrier coating comprises the following components in parts by weight: 35-50 parts of zirconium dioxide, 15-30 parts of ceramic powder, 10-20 parts of zinc oxide, 15-30 parts of cerium oxide, 10-20 parts of silicon oxide, 5-15 parts of aluminum oxide, 20-30 parts of manganese oxide, 10-20 parts of chromium oxide and 10-20 parts of copper oxide. According to the multi-purpose thermal barrier coating and the preparation method thereof, the ceramic powder and the manganese oxide are added into the traditional thermal barrier coating, so that the consolidation enhancement of the material can be improved, the plasticity is better, the toughness is high, the strength and the heat resistance of the surface of an object can be improved, and the thermal barrier coating is suitable for different environments.
