A silicon carbide ceramic product and a preparation method thereof belong to the field of materials. The preparation method of the silicon carbide ceramic product comprises the following steps: molding the mixed silicon carbide ceramic raw materials containing the binder to obtain a green body; carrying out heat treatment on the green body to remove the binder, and cooling to obtain a silicon carbide ceramic porous matrix; and embedding the silicon carbide ceramic porous matrix in the embedding powder, pre-pressing, and sintering at the sintering temperature of 1700-2100 DEG C in an inert atmosphere to obtain the silicon carbide ceramic product. The preparation method is simple to operate and low in cost, not only can obtain a compact silicon carbide ceramic product, but also can effectively improve the compactness of the silicon carbide ceramic product on the basis of not increasing the sintering temperature compared with hot-pressed sintering and pressureless sintering of silicon carbide; and compared with a hot isostatic pressing technology, the method can improve the density without an additional special mold, the production cost is effectively reduced, and the method is suitable for industrial production.
