The invention discloses a river water sediment content reducing device. The river water sediment content reducing device comprises a water inlet pipe and a main pipe, wherein the water inlet pipe is connected to the left end of the main pipe; the upper part of the main pipe is connected with an air chamber and a water outlet pipe; the air chamber is positioned at the left side of the water outlet pipe; a first valve is arranged in the air chamber; a second valve is arranged on the water outlet pipe; a water discharge pipe is arranged above the first valve, and is connected with the air chamber; a water outlet opening is formed at the upper side of the second valve; a desilting chamber is arranged at the lower part of the main pipe; the desilting chamber is positioned right under the water outlet pipe; and a sediment discharging pipe is connected to the lower part of the desilting chamber. The river water sediment content reducing device has the advantages that the inertia of the waterflow is utilized, so that a dead load loading valve is suddenly closed, so that water in the water outlet pipe suddenly maintains a still state, and sediments in the water fall into the desilting chamber under the effects of the self gravity and the water pressure; the river water sediment content reducing device has an obvious effect of reducing the river water sediment content; electric power does not need to be used in the whole process; the energy sources are greatly saved; and the sediment removal cost is low.
