The invention discloses a tailing pond ecological restoration method, and relates to the technical field of mine ecological restoration and environmental governance. The method comprises the following steps: S1, tailing pond surface layer finishing: the surface layer of a tailing pond is leveled through mechanical leveling until the surface layer of the tailing pond has no stone or hollow land, and then every 7 meters of width is taken as a restoration unit, the interval between every two adjacent remediation units is 1 meter, sludge wormcast conversion platforms with the width of 1.5 meters are reserved on the two sides in each remediation unit, and rainwater collecting ditches with the depth of 5 cm and the width of 10 cm are reserved on the two edges of each platform. According to the tailing pond ecological restoration method, municipal sludge resources are fully utilized, compared with other restoration methods, a large amount of engineering cost is saved, and the two problems off municipal sludge and tailing pond ecological restoration which are troublesome in independent treatment are solved; and with the application of the method, municipal sludge and tailing pond ecological restoration can be made to be supplementary resources, are interdependent and realize benign self-sustainable development, so that not only is a large amount of economic cost saved, but also higher ecological benefits are created.
