The invention discloses a preparation method of alpha-type high-strength gypsum, and the method comprises the following steps of: 1) washing and desalting gypsum containing salt (NaCl) by using condensed water, and then performing filtering to obtain calcium sulfate dihydrate; 2) adding the calcium sulfate dihydrate obtained in the step 1) into a crystal modifier aqueous solution, and performing stirring to enable the crystal modifier aqueous solution to fully wet the calcium sulfate dihydrate for crystal transformation; 3) transferring the calcium sulfate dihydrate after crystal transformation in the step 2) into a buffer kettle for buffering; and 4) carrying out solid-liquid separation on the buffered sodium sulfate dihydrate obtained in the step 3); the salt-containing gypsum is obtained by preparing low-nitrate halogen, and the product obtained by the method is pure, high in grade and few in impurities, and the post-treatment process is simple.
