The invention discloses a method for selecting ultrathin overlay types, and the method comprises the following steps: 1, determining an ultrathin overlay maintenance road section, determining main factor indexes influencing the selection of the ultrathin overlay types, and constructing a decision matrix; 2, calculating contribution degrees of different cover surface types under different influence factors according to the decision matrix, and then calculating a total contribution amount of each influence factor index; 3, calculating the difference degree of each index through the total contribution amount, and then carrying out weight determination on each influence factor to obtain a corresponding weight; 4, normalizing the decision matrix, and multiplying the weight occupied by each influence factor by using the normalized matrix to obtain a weighted standardized matrix; and step 5, finding out the optimal value and the worst value of each index in the weighted standardization matrix, establishing an optimal value vector and a worst value vector, then calculating the distance between different cover surface types and the optimal value and the worst value, then calculating the relative proximity, and selecting the optimal ultrathin cover surface type according to the relative proximity value.
