The invention discloses a heat preservation and energy saving structure for an outer wall. The structure comprises two symmetrically-arranged outer wall protection plates; a connecting plate is installed between the two outer wall protection plates; a green plant groove and a water drainage pipe are installed on the front faces of the outer wall protection plates correspondingly; connecting blocks are installed on the back faces close to the tops and the bottoms of the outer wall protection plates correspondingly; buckling strips are installed on the connecting blocks; two step grooves are symmetrically formed in the side wall of each outer wall protection plate; the front face of each outer wall protection plate is covered with a honeycomb plate; each outer wall protection plate is internally provided with a cavity; the cavities are filled with heat preservation cotton; mounting grooves are formed in the front faces, close to the bottoms, of the connecting blocks; mounting holes are formed in the front faces of the connecting blocks; and clamping grooves are formed in the front faces located above the mounting holes.
