The invention discloses a multifunctional polycarboxylic acid concrete admixture and a preparation method thereof, wherein the multifunctional polycarboxylic acid concrete admixture comprises 8-12 parts of a water reducing type polycarboxylic acid water reducing agent, 2-4 parts of a slump retaining type polycarboxylic acid water reducing agent, a high-dispersity polycarboxylic acid admixture, sodium gluconate, a polycarboxylic acid water-retaining agent, an air entraining agent and tap water. According to the invention, according to the action mechanism of adsorption and dispersion of a water reducing agent, a modern cement production process, the compatibility of a cement grinding aid and the water reducing agent, the action of a cement hydration mechanism, the influence of machine-made sand on the water reducing agent and other factors are combined to develop a multifunctional polycarboxylic acid concrete admixture which is good in applicability, good in dispersity, resistant to segregation and bleeding and capable of reducing pump loss, wherein the multifunctional admixture has good compound dispersity and synergistic interaction during application, so that certain defects of application of a common polycarboxylic acid water reducer in concrete are overcome.
