The communicating pipe and the water diversion pipe are arranged on the upstream side and the downstream side of the grit chamber respectively, the communicating pipe and the water diversion pipe are arranged in a staggered mode, and the two sides, perpendicular to the upstream side and the downstream side of the grit chamber, of the grit chamber are each provided with a sand discharging opening, a sliding way and a switch plate matched with the sliding way; the switch plate is connected with a winch arranged above the grit chamber through a steel rope so as to open and close grit discharge ports on two sides of the grit chamber; the water level gauge is high in emergency capacity, stable in use and timely and reliable in water level measurement data acquisition.
