The invention discloses a method for firing light ceramsite by using metro spoil and machine-made sand tailing mud, which solves the problem of environmental pollution caused by spoil such as metro spoil and machine-made sand tailing mud, and the prepared product is green and environment-friendly and has high added value. The production process comprises the following steps: 1, pretreating the metro spoil and the machine-made sand tailing mud; 2, drying the pretreated metro spoil and machine-made sand tailing mud; 3, mixing and preparing the dried metro spoil, machine-made sand tailing mud and an additive; 4, extruding the mixed material into a blank; and 5, sintering the ceramsite blank in a kiln. The lightweight ceramsite is fired by taking metro spoil and machine-made sand tailing mud as main raw materials. Environment pollution caused by the metro spoil and the machine-made sand tailing mud is overcome, resources are fully utilized, clay needed by traditional ceramsite preparation is replaced, land resources are effectively protected, and meanwhile the preparation cost is reduced. The fired light ceramsite has the characteristics of low water absorption, low density, high strength, good heat insulation effect and the like.
