The invention relates to the technical field of self-elevating platforms, and discloses a limiting device and a self-elevating platform. The limiting device comprises a limiting switch and a limiting plate, wherein the limiting switch comprises a mounting end and an abutting end; the limiting plate and the limiting switch are configured to move relatively in a moving direction, the limiting plate extends along the moving direction, and the abutting end of the limiting switch is configured to abut against the limiting plate. According to the present invention, the limiting plate matched with the limiting switch extends along the moving direction, so that when the limiting switch abuts against the limiting plate for work, the abutting end can make sliding contact with the limiting plate, sliding contact has longer contact time compared with the point contact in the prior art, the signal transmission of the abutting end is more stable, the possibility of signal transmission interruption caused by the poor contact between the abutting end and the limiting plate is avoided, the stability and reliability of the limiting device are improved, and meanwhile a safety coefficient of the self-elevating platform adopting the limiting device is improved.
