The invention provides a steel structure sliding device and method. The steel structure sliding device comprises a concrete structure frame, a sliding guide rail, a vertical driving assembly and a horizontal driving assembly, and a working area is arranged in the concrete structure frame; the sliding guide rail is arranged in the working area and is used for bearing a steel structure; the vertical driving assembly is arranged below the sliding guide rail and used for driving the sliding guide rail to ascend and descend and enabling the height of the sliding guide rail to be larger than or smaller than the height of the concrete structure frame; and the horizontal driving assembly is arranged at one end of the concrete structure frame and used for driving the steel structure to move along the sliding guide rail. According to the steel structure sliding device and method, sliding installation of a large-span steel structure can be achieved, after sliding is completed, the sliding guide rail, the vertical driving assembly and the horizontal driving assembly can all be detached and reused, waste can be avoided, and cost reduction is facilitated.
