The invention relates to inorganic fibers. The present invention relates to an inorganic fiber containing silica and magnesium oxide as main fiber components, which further contains a predetermined iron oxide additive to improve the dimensional stability of the fiber. The inorganic fibers exhibit good thermal insulation properties at 1400 DEG C and higher, retain mechanical integrity after exposure to the use temperature, and retain non-persistence in physiological liquids. Also provided are thermal insulation product forms comprising a plurality of the inorganic fibers, methods of making the inorganic fibers, and methods of thermally insulating articles using thermal insulation articles made from a plurality of the inorganic fibers.
