The invention discloses a self-tapping expansion knotting heat-bridge-breaking anchor bolt for a building heat preservation system and an installation method. The anchor bolt comprises a heat-bridge-breaking bolt body, an anchoring external member and an internal thread screw pipe, wherein one end of the internal thread screw pipe is coaxially and fixedly connected with a self-tapping screw. The heat-bridge-breaking bolt body is composed of an anchoring disc and a screw rod, the anchoring disc is coaxially and fixedly arranged at one end of the screw rod, the screw rod end of the self-tapping screw is sleeved with the anchoring external member, and the screw rod end of the self-tapping screw is matched with the anchoring kit in an expansion and knotting manner; and the screw rod of the heat-bridge-breaking bolt body is in screw joint and fastening fit with the internal thread screw pipe. The installation method of the anchor bolt comprises the steps that a heat preservation plate is pasted outside a base layer wall body, the self-tapping screw is sleeved with the anchoring external member, and the anchoring external member is inserted into a drill hole along with the self-tapping screw and reach the anchoring depth; and the anchoring disc of the heat-bridge-breaking bolt body is screwed to drive the self-tapping screw to rotate, the self-tapping screw is gradually screwed into the anchoring external member through rotation, and the anchoring external member is expanded or knotted and is in anchoring connection with the base layer wall body until the anchoring disc of the heat-bridge-breaking bolt body is tightly attached to the outer surface of a new heat preservation plate.
